Abstract Renal impairment is an important feature of diabetes mellitus causing a significant morbidity and mortality so much effort has been devoted to detection of complications. MicroRNA-21 is significantly unregulated in a wide range of cancer. It is strongly involved in oncogenesis since most of its reported targets are tumor suppressors. Recently microRNA-21 was found to be correlated with the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases and may play an essential role in regulating autoimmune responses. The aim of this study was to evaluate plasma microRNA-21 as an early biomarker for Diabetic Nephropathy in patients with Type1 diabetes mellitus. To achieve this goal this study was performed on (34) type1 diabetic patients and were compared with17 healthy subjects of matched age, sex as a control group. |
