Abstract Thyroid gland is a small bilobed endocrine gland with weight 20 25g in white rats overlays the trachea just below the larynx (Choksi et al. 2003 Fox et al. 2008). Thyroid gland secretes two hormones that are secreted into the blood and then carried to different tissues in the body. Thyroid hormones are iodine containing amine hormones (T4 or thyroxine) and (T3 or triiodothyronine) (Diekman et al. 2000). These hormones play a role in the cardiovascular nervous, immune and reproductive system development and function (Krassas, 2000 Choksi et al., 2003). |
