Abstract

While assisted reproductive technology (ART) activity increases throughout the world, most teams have to face with the challenge of ovarian stimulation in poor responders. Poor ovarian response (POR) to stimulation is a challenging issue in the field of infertility as poor responders have a higher incidence of cycle cancellation, lower fertilization rate and lower pregnancy and implantation rates. The main objective of this study was to compare ovarian stimulation and ICSI outcome in poor responders using antagonist protocol with high doses of gonadotropins 450 IU/d (6ampoules) versus patients undergoing stimulation at 300 IU/d (4ampoules).This study retrospectively reviewed women who were poor responder patients underwent ICSI and received antagonist protocol in the period of 1/6/2014 to 31/ 12/2015 in IVF unit of Kasr Al-Ainy hospital. Our results proved that in POR patients using GnRH antagonist protocol it is the same to start the stimulation protocol with 4 or 6 ampoules of hMG and also there is no difference in the reproductive outcome between cases received 3000 or less hMG units & those who received more than 3000 units. As a conclusion we can say that there is no ovarian stimulation protocol has demonstrated its superiority in expected poor responders up to now, especially regarding doses of gonadotropins to use
