Abstract Objective: Early versus delayed umbilical cord clamping in preterm births. Patients and Methods: The study included 100 pregnant woman before 37 gestational weeks divided into two groups, group I: 50 patients with early cord clamping (Before 15 seconds) and group II: 50 with delayed cord clamping (30-45 seconds). Results: Delayed cord clamping resulted in increased hemoglobin and hematocrit and decreased rate of blood transfusion. Conclusion: Delayed cord clamping (DCC) (more than 15 seconds) in preterm births is associated with higher Hb, Hct and less need for blood transfusion compared to immediate cord clamping |
