Abstract

Objective: The present study was designed to investigate the possible ameliorative effects of the antioxidant taurine as a protective agent against the Hepatotoxic and Nephrotoxic effect of tgDNT, in male rats. Dinitrotoluene (DNT) [CH3C6H3 (NO2)2] nitro-aromatic compounds that are produced industrially and its used in both civilians and military applications in all over the world and Egypt. its Cause malfunction in kidneys, heart, liver, testes and mammary glands in human and animals, probably carcinogenic in human, carcinogenic in rodents. On the other hand, taurine; a free Ý-amino acid with remarkable antioxidant activity, is has important beneficial effects on the human body. Hepatoprotection, Nephroprotection, Cardiovascular protection, Hypoglycemic effect, Hypolipidemic effect. Recently, its serum level used as early Marker for Endometrial Cancer, colon cancer, and breast cancer Method: 100 healthy Males of albino rats was divided into four equal groups (25 rats /group), 1st group (Frank control): received only distilled water orally, 2nd group (taurine control) to determine the effect of taurine alone: It receives an oral administration of taurine (500 mg/kg), 3rd group(toxic) that showed the toxic effect of tgDNT: it received tgDNT (35 mg/kg), and 4th group (protective) which shows the possible ameliorative effect of taurine : it receives a combination of taurine (500 mg/kg) with tgDNT (35 mg/kg) daily for 52 weeks and 7 rats/group were sacrificed at 13, 26 and at 52 weeks 11, 11, 5, and 10 rats sacrificed per 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th group respectively. the blood sample is collected from the Carotid Artery for analysis to investigate liver, kidney and heart functions, and tissue of liver and kidney were carefully obtained and detected for histopathological changes all data which collected from this study were summarized and comparison of means was done by one-way ANOVA, (significant difference at the probability of 5%)
