Abstract Hypotension during spinal anesthesia for caesarean delivery is a result of decreased vascular resistance due to sympathetic blockade and decreased cardiac output due to blood pooling in blocked areas of the body. PI is the ratio of non-pulsatile to pulsatile blood flow through the peripheral capillary bed. PI can be used to assess peripheral perfusion dynamics due to changes in peripheral vascular tone. This prospective, observational study was conducted at Kasr Al Aini hospitals in the duration from 25/1/2017 to 31/9/2017. This study was conducted in a group of full term pregnant patients aged 18-40 years not documented to have peripheral vascular disease (DVT, limb ischemia). The comparison was done between baseline perfusion index using a special pulse oximeter probe (masimo device, radical 7) and degree of decrease in systolic blood pressure to determine the relation between them |
