Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory joint disease characterized by a distractive pattern of bone and joint destruction. It can progressively to become severe and disabling in a short period of time (firestein J. et al., 2009). The disease primarily affects the synovial joints, resulting in pain, deformity and eventual functional limitation, causing substantial morbidity and accelerated mortality (Cush J. et al., 2007). The condition also has a widespread extra articular manifestation which confers an increased risk of many other diseases including cardiovascular disease, pulmonary dysfunction, renal disorders, intestinal pathologies and associated psychiatric symptoms (Lee D. and Weinblatt M. 2001). Objective: To evaluate the effect of group therapy sessions on the activity of the disease, functional abilities, psychiatric symptoms such as depression and anxiety and adaptation with the disease. Methods: Fifty two RA patients received their regular medical care in addition to group therapy sessions every two weeks and they are considered the cases and 50 Ra patients received their regular medical care only and they were taken as a control group. All patients were evaluated by disease activity score using DAS28 score, functional disability used Modified Health assessment questionnaire (HAQ 8 items), hospital anxiety and depression scale, brief coping and routine laboratory investigations CBC, ESR, CRP, liver and kidney function test
