Abstract

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a serious attenuate disorder that results in complete or partial loss of motor, sensory and neuronal functions due to mechanical damage of the spinal cord. Immune cells and their inflammatory mediators are induced following SCI injuries, whether these cells and molecules are deleterious or beneficial to SCI tissue is still a matter of great debate. We aims to prevent the secondary causes that follow experimental spinal cord injury by investigating the effect of genistein (GEN) loaded on nanofibers that able to suppress inflammatory cytokines (TNF-Ü), elevates anti-inflamatory cytokines (IL- 10) and mediate a scaffold media that enable neuron regeneration. In conclusion, We conducted that the soy isoflavones extract GEN has a neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effect as it reduced the inflammatory response followed the primary damage of SCI and nanofibers created a favorable environments for axonal regeneration as it is a scaffold making bridging at the cyst or the cavity
