Abstract

This research presents a thesis that analyze the various factors affecting the design of high-rise office building’ skins, and their effect on daylight, thermal and energy performance through three main scientific techniques applications; first, Literature Review, reviewing previous researches and researchers’ studies to identify building’ skins and its historical background; High-Rise office buildings history, office building systems, different design approaches and the paradigm shift of thinking and the new technologies for building’ skins used for more effective building performance, the second method is the analytical study to investigate the level of implementation of different building skins techniques that have been applied on high-rise office buildings and identify skin design parameters, tools and energy performance for those office building’ skins, then, the third method, is the applied study of these parameters and tools on an Egyptian high-rise office building skins to check the effectiveness for various skin design configurations with specific references to daylight, thermal and energy performance standards, and compare between their potentials of each skin configuration and evaluate them, and then get the conclusion, recommendations and further studies that can be applied
