Abstract
Extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer (EMMPRIN), also known as CD147, is a member of the immunoglobulin family of adhesion molecules and EMMPRIN plays many important roles in cellular function both in physiological and pathological processes. The best characterized function of EMMPRIN is its role in tumor metastasis, angiogenesis, and chemoresistance. For that, we assess EMMPRIN in 60 cases of astrocytic CNS tumors; the expression of EMMPRIN in astrocytic CNS tumors was investigated by immunohistochemistry assay, resulting in that a statistically significant correlation was detected between EMMPRIN expression and tumor grade
