Abstract This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of herbal extract, glycyrrhiza glabra (Liquorice) and Zingiber officinale (Ginger) on the productive performance and reproductive performance Oreochromis niloticus (Nile tilapia) reared in agriculture waste water. The study applied through three experiments; First experiment, was applied on 1800 fingerlings, to assess productive performance of Nile tilapia, they were randomly distributed into four groups three replicates, 150 fish each,. group one (control) fed on the basal diet, group two (Ginger group) fed on basal feed fortified by ginger 5ml/kg, group three (liquorice group) taken basal feed plus Liquorice 4ml/kg, and group four (mix group) received basal feed treated with mixture of ginger and liquorice 2.5ml and 2ml/kg respectively. Data collected were productive performance, physiological and blood biochemical parameters finally tissue specimen from intestine and liver of fish were collected at the end of the experiment for histopathological examination. Second experiment applied on 336 fish to evaluate the reproductive performance, they were divided in four groups three replicate each 28 fish with sex percentage 1male: 3 female in each replicate, all the fish group receive the same feeding regimen like in experiment one from the first day. Data collected were, reproductive performance physiological and blood biochemical parameters measured like in first experiment, at the end ovaries and testicles samples were collected for histopathological examination. Third experiment applied in private hatchery suffering from lower reproductive performance of brooder tilapia, for studying the corrective effect of ginger and liquorice extract |
