Abstract This thesis presents the results of a study on the performance of reactive powder concrete (RPC) containing different percentages of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) prepared using two types of superplasticizers. Flowability, compressive strength and flexural strength of the resulting RPC were evaluated. Scanning electron micrographs and X-ray diffraction techniques were used to determine the effect of changing CNT percentage and superplasticizer type on the microstructure of the resulting RPC. Results showed that the addition of an appropriate amount of highly dispersed CNTs can enhance compressive strength because of its filling effect and enhance the flexural strength because of its ability to arrest the cracks at the nano scale |
