Abstract

In this study we enrolled 80 female patients (aged more than 5 years) with osteoarthritis knee pain. They were randomly allocated into two groups: injection group (n=40) and control group (n=40). With the guidance of the ultrasound, every patient in the injection group received 20 ml of triamcinolone- bupivacaine mixture at the adductor canal while every patient at the control group received the same volume of saline. Regarding VAS and WOMAC scores, there were no significant difference between the 2 groups before the injection, but after the injection there were significant different between the 2 groups regarding VAS up to 24 weeks and WOMAC up to 12 weeks in the group that received triamcinolone- bupivacaine mixture while there were no significant difference between the 2 groups regarding VAS and WOMAC in the group that received saline. None of the patients (in both groups) expressed weakness after the block
