Abstract

H. Pylori bacteria is the main pathogenic organism that settles on the gastric mucosa of more than half the human population around the world, with more prominence in the developing countries. H. pylori infection during pregnancy has been associated with several adverse outcomes in both mothers and neonates. Maternal H. pylori infection was correlated with a low neonatal birth weight, [165].
H. pylori infection was defined as an independent risk factor for frequent vomiting during pregnancy, and that this was correlated with an increase in the incidence of small for gestational age (SGA) neonates. The prevalence of H. pylori infection in pregnant women varies according to geographic area, socioeconomic conditions and method used to detect H. pylori infection [165].
Hypertension is a clinical term used to describe high blood pressure. Hypertension in pregnancy is defined as: “Systolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 90 mmHg which usually confirmed within four hours apart measurement [168].
These conditions range from a mild increase in blood pressure at term with no additional signs or symptoms to severe complications with potential for significant maternal, fetal and neonatal harm. Globally, a significant number of women die every year from pregnancy-related causes and more than half of these deaths occur in sub-Saharan Africa [167].
So, this study aimed to demonstrate correlation of maternal H. pylori infection during pregnancy and pregnancy induced hypertension.
To elucidate our results, this study was conducted out on 150 patients at the inpatient ward and outpatient clinic of the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Menoufia university Hospital and Obstetrics and Gynecology, Al- Shohadaa central Hospital during the period study from September 2020 till August 2021.
