Abstract This study aimed to compare the two groups regarding their preoperative assessment, their intraoperative finding and post-operative complications and various complication related to stoma complication and follow up postoperatively by CT scan pelvi-abdominal to detected any evidence of closed loop obstructed. This prospective randomized clinical study included 30 patients who presented to Kasr Al-Ainy emergency unit with distal colorectal obstruction. The study was conducted between May 2021 and November 2021. In conclusion the study showed: Loop ileostomy is significantly associated with higher prevalence of peristomal skin irritations. Loop transverse colostomy was commonly associated with higher prevalence of wound infection, stomal retraction and need for surgical re-intervention. There was no significant difference between both groups in terms hospital stay, mortality and ICU admission. CT scan is valuable tool in assessment of postoperative complications. |
