Abstract

In this thesis, experiment data is collected for a locally designed and manufactured micro air vehicle (MAV). The tunnel was first modified and calibrated. Three test rigs were built to measure the entire MAV characteristic. A flat plate wing with an aspect ratio of 0.75 was first tested in the wind tunnel and compared with other published experimental data at a Reynolds number of 1{u00D7}105. The experimental data is then combined with a nonlinear flight dynamic model developed in Simulink to model the longitudinal motion for the MAV. The nonlinear model uses the experimental measurements of the lift, drag and pitching moment to determine the MAV performance
