Abstract To compare between the hearing function of those who undergo tympanoplasty by using a cartilage graft and those who use temporalis fascia graft and reaching a conclusion based upon pre and postoperative audiological assessment of the patients who will undergo the study, putting in consideration that other studies showed that there is no major significant difference between the two procedures concerning morphology shwan.et al., (2012). A randomized controlled trial involving 50 patients who were recruited from the clinics of both Kasr Elaini hospital and sixth of October university hospital, and underwent tympanoplasty, A group using cartilage graft and the other using temporalis fascia Graft with pre and post operative audiological assessment. Patients with chronic otitis media dry ear with no limitation to a certain sex or ethnicity. Age Group: Adult patient above 18 years. Inclusion criteria: Patients with chronic otitis media, dry ear patients with tympanic membrane perforations failed to close primarily. Adult patient 18 years and older. Exclusion criteria: Patients younger than 18 years. Old patients patients with active ear infection. Patients with bleeding tendancy. Patients with SNHL who will not favor from operation |
