Abstract In this work the reaction of ethylacetoacetate (1) with Ü-naphthylamine (2) gave the N-(Naphthalen-1-yl)-3-oxobutanamid (3). The latter products underwent a series of heterocyclization reactions to yield pyridine, pyran, thiophene and pyrazole derivatives.
