Abstract Family Combretaceae is a large family of herbs, shrubs and trees, comprising about 20 genera and 600 species with tropical distribution around the globe and centers of diversity in Africa and Asia. In traditional medicine, plants belonging to genus Combretum were used in the treatment fever, headache, abdominal disorders, nose bleeding, sore throats, colds, coughs, pneumonia, conjunctivitis, abdominal pain, gallstones, diarrhea, dysentery, gastric ulcers, bilharziasis, hookworm, dysmenorrhoea, infertility in women, venereal diseases including syphilis, earache, weight gain, leprosy, scorpion and snake bites, swelling caused by mumps, toothache, heart diseases. |
