Abstract

Objective : To compare and assess the validity of Pediatric Risk of Mortality (PRISMIII) score and Signs of Inflammation that Can Kill (SICK) score to predict mortality among patients who are admitted in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit( PICU) Design : Retrospective study . Patient and methods : The study included 150 patients 63.3% males and 36.7% females. Patients were admitted to PICU at Cairo university children hospital over a period of 12 month. Data was collected from medical including history ,physical examination and laboratory data .Then applying PRISMIII score and SICK score on the collected data. Results : Our study included 150 patients 89 (59.3%)improved and 61 (40.7%) died .The survivors were older than non survivors and higher PRISMIII score and SICK score were with died patients and so the higher the score the more mortality. Conclusion : SICK score is an easy score which can be used in triaging using of it facilitate stratification of patients .PRISMIII is more complex so starting by SICK score followed by PRISMIII score is the best
