Abstract
Galaxies in the universe tend to gather in groups. Galaxies in the same group share the same physical attributes that connect them together. Astronomers search for groups of galaxies using different visual and systematic techniques. A lot of groups were found and cataloged using different criteria. In this thesis, the reality of the members of 459 groups of galaxies in de carvalho et al. catalog of compact groups of galaxies (2005) were inspected to find out if they are real members of the groups, using cluster analysis. The acquired results show that most of the members of groups are real members while some groups (24 groups) contain one of their galaxy members with a discordant attribute and 62 groups contain two sub groups
