Abstract

A series of spinel nanoferrites with the general formula MeFe₂O₄; (Me=Co, Cu, Ca and Cr) were prepared by using the citrate auto combustion technique. Numerous non consistencies appear in the present studies due to the difference in obtained structures. This leads to variety in the obtained properties. The prepared samples were classified into three groups. The first group deals with spinel with a general formula MeFe₂O₄; (Me=Co, Cu). The structural magnetic and optical properties of them are studied in order to get more applicable one. The preparation of CaFe2O4 nano ferrites samples is the main issue in the second group. The properties of the obtained orthorhombic structure were discussed. In the third group an attempt was made to study the physical properties of CrFe₂O₄ ferrite nanoparticles. The ferromagnetic as well as the ferroelectric hysteresis loops of the rhombohedral perovskite structure (CrFeO₃) were studied.In general rare earth ions are promising additives for improving the properties of ferrites. Thus the effect of rare earth ions (Gd⁺⁺⁺/Er⁺⁺⁺) on the physical properties of the investigated samples was studied
