Abstract
This current study was a randomized controlled study conducted in Menoufia University Hospital and Berket El Sabaa general hospital, Al Menoufia, Egypt, from December 2019 to October 2021. Eligible participants were pregnant women who were divided into two groups: The 1st group were skin closure by the adhesive tape closure system. The 2nd group were skin closure by the traditional subcuticular closure technique.
The study excluded patients with diseases that interfered with wound healing or causing excessive bleeding (coagulopathy, collagen disease, diabetes mellitus, known immunodeficiency, immunosuppressive treatment and severe anemia). Also women with previously existing local infections or lesions and previous scar of cesarean section or laparotomy.
Study intervention:
Eligible participants were evaluated through full history taking including personal (name, age, occupation, social class) past history, present history, menstrual history and obstetric history. And physical examination including general examination and local abdominal examination. Also laboratory investigation including (CBC, liver function, kidney functions, coagulation profile, random blood sugar) were done. Obstetric ultrasound was thoroughly done for assessment of fetal wellbeing and gestational age.
Our study had revealed a significant decrease in pain and time in the adhesive Steristrips group.
