Abstract Summary and Conclusion Management of vascular malformations represents a challenge. Multidisciplinary approach is the gold standard treatment. In this study, the most recent available sclerosing agent, bleomycin, was investigated. Bleomycin can achieve satisfactory results after several sclerotherapy sessions, particularly with good selection of patients. Sclerotherapy should be combined with US and angiographic guidance to enhance its efficacy and reduce complications. Complications of bleomycin are most often minor and transient. Surgical excision is still useful in certain indications as lesions with soft tissue component, thrombosed VMs, localized VMs, and extratruncular persistent embryonic veins. The following algorithm shows the details of the decision making process for the patients with vascular malformations: |
