Abstract

The current study was carried on a total of 64 swabs from Abo-Hammad and Belbes abattoirs (32 of each) at Sharkia Governorate, Egypt. Samples were collected from cattle and camel carcasses (16 of each) from specific parts (shoulder and thigh surfaces, 8 of each). Besides, 6416 camels were slaughtered at five abattoirs (Zagazig, Belbes, Abu Hammad, Minya El-Qamh, and Faqous abattoirs) in Sharkia province, Egypt and inspected for detection of hydatid cyst prevalence. The present investigation was designed as follows: Microbiological assessment including aerobic plate count, total staphylococcus count, total Enterobacteriaceae count, total mould and yeast count, and incidence of salmonellae and E.coli among the investigated swabs. In addition to, prevalence and bacterial isolation from hydatid cysts in dromedary camels (Camelus dromedarius) slaughtered at Sharkia abattoirs, Egypt. Moreover, determination the different causes of El-Qurein abattoir condemnations and their direct financial implications during 2020 and 2021.
