Abstract

Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) is a subset of pathogenic E. coli that can cause diarrhoea or hemorrhagic colitis in humans., The present study demonstrates the diversity of virulence genes and serotypes in E coli isolated from patients with significant bloody diarrhea. a total of 273 stool sample collected , 71 samples were identified and isolated as E.coli. Our study shows that different types of EHEC strains predominate in infant and adult patients and that the. Emergence of O157 and nonO157 EHEC in epidemic human disease is of great concern. The most frequent nonO157 causative agents belong to O serogroups O1:H11, O128: H2, O26:H11, O25: H2, O145: H328, O125:H6, O86:H8 and O18:H15,are capable of causing bloody diarrhea. the Molecular charactrization using 16s rRna detected the genes for stx1, stx2 and eae in E. Coli isolates and phylogenitic analysis is done.
