Abstract

The use of Nano materials as an alternative to conventional treatment materials in field of conservation and restoration of museum painted stuccoes is progressive approach nowadays, this study focused on using the inorganic and composite forms in this field of conservation specially the consolidation treatment of the museum painted stuccoes, through experimental study conducted after doing the requested analysis and investigation of the polychrome statuette at the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The study aims first on dating the polychrome statuette which has no data about its history, by conducting archaeometric study through the investigation and analysis to know its composition, accompanied with comparative study with the similar objects stored or displayed on Egyptian and museums around the world. And finally it is suggested that it is dated to the Greco-Roman period.
This study focuses on conducting experimental study to compare between inorganic and composite Nano materials, by using Nano titanium Dioxide and Nano silica, with application of mimic samples according to the investigation and analysis conducted to the statuette case study, to reach to the best material can be used in this field. This approved after completing the comparative study between the inorganic and composite Nano materials and the Nano titanium Dioxide has proved its efficiency through enhancing the organic polymer used (Klucel E) which was widely used in the field of consolidation of painted surfaces. The thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter 1: Museum painted stuccoes and its museum display vision; Chapter 2: Application of Nano Technology in the Field of Conservation of Painted Stucco Monuments; Chapter 3: Examination and analysis of the Polychrome Statuette (case study); Chapter 4: The experimental study for evaluation of the selected inorganic and composite Nano materials on the painted stucco layers; and Chapter 5: Applied Chapter - Documentation – Conservation Treatment and Preventive conservation.
