Abstract EnglishAbstract Phytochemical investigation of Carrichtera annua extract has led to the isolation of fiveknown phenolic compounds. The isolated compounds were elucidated as trans ferulic acid(1), kaempferol (2), p- coumaric acid (3), luteolin (4) and quercetin (5). Chemical profilingofC.annuaextractwasachievedbyLC-ESI-TOF-MS/MSanalysis.Forty-ninehitsmainlypolyphenolsweredetected.FlavonoidfractionofC.annuademonstratedselectivecytotoxicityagainsttheMCF-7andHepG2cells(IC50=13.04and19.3µg/mLrespectively), induced cell cycle arrest at pre-G1 and G2/M-phases and displayed apoptoticeffect.Additionally,C.annuacrudeextracthassignificantantioxidantactivityandimproved the deteriorated liver and kidney functions caused by cisplatin administration.On the other hand, Molecular docking studies were performed to support the biological activities.Finally, Carrichtera annua extract was evaluated for the antimicrobial activity against anumberof fungi,grampositiveandgram-negative bacteria.
