Abstract Background Osteoporosis related fracture is one of the leading causes of significant morbidity and disability in elderly patients. Aim of study: assess of life style for elderly with osteoporosis in Beni-Suef university hospital. Design: A descriptive design was used to achieve the aim of the current study. Setting: The study was conducted in outpatient clinic of orthopedic and rehabilitation clinic at Beni-Suef University Hospital. Subjects: Convenient sample; include all available elderly patients in outpatient clinic of orthopedic and rehabilitation clinic at Beni-Suef University Hospital. Tools: Two data collection tools were used to carry out the current study namely.(1); patient’ assessment tool.(2), Life style assessment tool. Results: (61.1%) of elderly people with osteoporosis their age was 60 – 75 year. (70.8%) of them were male. There was a statistically significant relation between patients’ total knowledge and their age, residences, and educational level. There was a statistically significant relation between patients’ lifestyle and their age, marital status, residences, and educational level. Conclusion: Majority of elderly people with osteoporosis had unsatisfactory total knowledge regarding osteoporosis. Majority of elderly people with osteoporosis had negative total lifestyle scores with osteoporosis. There was a positive correlation between patients’ total knowledge and their lifestyle. Recommendations: Periodic assessment for elderly with osteoporosis in Beni-Suef university hospital to, help them to enhance life style. |
