Abstract

Environmental changes, especially climate changes, are projected to have direct negative effect on the agricultural production that is considered one of the main sources of income in Egypt. The ongoing changes in climate variables like temperature, humidity and sun shining make some crops become not suitable for plantation in its original places at its traditional dates. Reasonably for some crops, such plantation dates may become suitable by shifting it by some days and for other crops, it may become not suitable at all. Also, according to climate changes, new dates may become not just suitable but ideal for planting a specific crop while such new dates were not suitable at all before. Yet, for some other crops that need different climatic conditions within each stage of its growth life time, discovering the more suitable plantation periods becomes more complex. Fuzzy logic is a soft computing technique which could provide flexible solutions for the problems that contain uncertainty in its data presentation. Lots of fuzzy approaches have been introduced to handle the problem of environmental changes and its effects on agriculture. However, the outcomes of such fuzzy approaches are still unsatisfactory. There are still a lot of enhancements that need to be made. Examples of missing enhancements are taking into account that the climatic requirements of specific crop is different in each stage of the crop growth. Also that different climate variables have different affecting factors on the crops
