Abstract Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological conditions. The actual prevalence of epilepsy in Egypt was assessed in some areas and the lifetime prevalence ranges from 4.2 - 12.4 / 1000. The epilepsy out-patient clinic (OPC) in kasr Alainy hospital is headed by patients from all over Egypt and offers its free medical services for ” " ~ " ”15000 patients per year. To identify the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of the patients attending the Kasr Alainy epilepsy OPC; and upgrading of the epilepsy clinic sheet and creating a data entry friendly record to secure a practical and effective method of data entry on a software program on the computer to construct an accurate data base for patients. Record based descriptive study for 1000 individuals who attend the epilepsy outpatient clinic during through 2012 - 2014. Data was collected from the epilepsy OPC medical records (hard copies), and introduced on a specially designed computer software program that is compatible with our data. The patients were 500 males and 500 females. Most of patients were from Giza (60%) and Cairo (27%); 8% were left handed; 28% were illiterate; 29% were manual workers and 9% of those had risky jobs, whereas 44% were not working; 48% were married; 98 (9.8%) were tramadol abusers and 64 (6.4%) had tramadol induced seizure |
