المستخلص The aim of this study was to assess the awareness of obstetricians and pregnant women about antenatal care in urban and rural areas. For this purpose a group of 500 pregnant women were recruited and divided into two groups: group A: 250 pregnant women from urban areas, group B: 250 pregnant women from rural areas. Also, 500 obstetricians were participated in this study and divided into: group C: 250 obstetricians from urban areas. group D: 250 obstetricians from rural areas. All were selected randomly from obstetric departments in hospitals at Cairo, Giza , Alsharqia, minya and qalyubia governorates. Two questionnaires form had been designed based on the reviewed literature. The first questionnaire had been composed of 14 questions to evaluate the knowledge of pregnant women about antenatal care. The second questionnaire had been composed of 13 questions to evaluate the knowledge of obstetricians about medical antenatal care, physical activities during pregnancy (benefits and dangers); types of exercises which can be used during pregnancy and their effect to ease the process of labor. The results showed that there is lack of awareness of pregnant women and obstetricians about antenatal care. So, it could be concluded that more awareness is needed for both pregnant women and obstetricians for each rural and urban areas about importance of antenatal care |
