Abstract

The main objective of this investigation was to evaluate the effect of replacing Moringa petioles meal with alfalfa dehydrated meal (the first experiment) and replacing Moringa stems with clover straw (the second experiment) in growing rabbit diets on growth performance, nutrients digestibility, carcass characteristics and blood parameters. Results obtained in the first experiment indicated that MPM was higher in contents of DM, OM, CP, EE, Ash, Cell., P and DE than alfalfa dehydrated meal. While alfalfa dehydrated meal was higher inCF, NFE, NDF, ADF, ADL, Hemi., Lig. and Ca. replacing MPM for alfalfa dehydrated meal in rabbit diets at level 25 or 50% increased (P<0.05) most nutrients digestibility. Besides adding caplix to rabbit diets containing MPM improved the nutrients digestibility and nutritive value compared to supplemented diets. Adding MPM to rabbit diets at the tested levels improved the growth rate. Besides, there were (P<0.05) increases in average values of FBW, BWG and FI with adding caplix in rabbit diets compared to those fed diets without caplix. Carcass weight and total edible parts % increased (p{u2264}0.05) with either adding caplix or replacing Moringa petioles meal for Alfalfa dehydrate meal at levels 25 and 50% compared to the control group. Results obtained in the second experimental revealed that Replacing Moringa stems for clover straw at 25 and 50% in rabbit diets improved (P< 0.05) CP, EE, CF, NDF, ADF and ADL digestibility as well as DCP and TDN values compared to the control group. Also, adding caplix to rabbit diets improved (P< 0.05) these nutrients digestibilities as compared to those groups fed diets without caplix.
