Abstract

Aim: This study aims to evaluate quantity and quality of bone gain following ridge augmentation
in atrophic anterior maxillary ridges with native collagen membrane and anorganic bovine bone
derived mineral with and without particulated autogenous bone chips.
b. Methodology: Twenty patients suffering from atrophic anterior maxillary ridges less than 5mm
were augmented, 10 patients using a mix of anorganic bovine bone derived mineral with
particulated autogenous bone chips (ratio 1:1) (comparator group), 10 patients using an
anorganic bovine bone derived mineral alone (Intervention group) both covered with native
collagen membrane.
c. Results: comparator group has mean 5.5 ± 3.6mm, Intervention group has mean 3.7 ± 2.38mm,
with significant difference.
d. Conclusion: the treatment of horizontally deficient alveolar ridges with the GBR technique using
autogenous bone with the addition of ABBM and a native collagen barrier membrane can be
regarded as successful and superior technique than using ABBM alone. The regenerated bone
lead to good osseointegration of the dental implant and may lead to implant survival
