Abstract The role of environmental cleaning is important to decrease the economic burden of hospitals and decrease the physical and economic burden for patients. Environmental service workers support patient care by performing a variety of cleaning duties and providing important infection control activities. The aim is designing a health educational booklet about environmental cleaning for healthcare workers in the emergency room. A cross-sectional study design was used. The study was conducted in the emergency rooms at Sherbin and Health Insurance Hospital. The study was carried out on 16 cleaners and 140 nurses who are working at the selected hospitals by using a convenience sampling technique. The researchers used eight tools in this study; developed tools I, II, III and adopted, IV, V, VI and VII. Result: shows satisfactory score level of nurses and cleaners’ knowledge and performance regarding environmental cleaning and satisfactory performance about the environmental cleaning process. The result of this study revealed that environmental services workers nurses and learners have a satisfactory score of knowledge and performance However, there is an apparent lack of some cleaning routine work and procedures. Finally, it recommended to Conduct an educational training program for nurses and workers on infection control of environmental cleaning. Adopt, as well available of the designed educational booklet for nurses and workers in their work settings. |
