Abstract

In the recent years, the use of drones have been widely spread in various applications. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) can be used as aerial base stations to provide line of sight (LoS) communication, maximize the coverage and provide flexible deployment due to its mobility. In addition, the future internet of things (IoT) devices requires massive connections to communicate directly. The limited resources scheduling and management in these networks is a very active research area; considering the different traffic parameters and delay requirements of the IoT devices.
In this thesis non orthogonal multiple access technique (NOMA) is utilized to maximize the bandwidth efficiency, where multiple users are allocated the same subchannel. A resource allocation technique is proposed that maximizes the system throughput; where it approaches rate upper bound compared to the best CQI, while minimizes the delay of IoT devices by 31.8%. In addition, a power allocation technique is proposed that ensure 50.8% fairness between users allocated the same resource block (RB). The proposed resource allocation technique achieves 99.7% reliability enhancement, thus it is suitable for ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC) applications as demonstrated in the simulation results.
