Abstract This study was conducted through two seasons (2019 and 2020) at the nursery of the Pomology department, Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University. According to the obtained results, the water soaking treatment followed by benzyladenine treatment significantly increased the callus degree and grafting success of the Flame seedless and Early sweet cultivars on Freedom rootstock. Using the Paulsen 1103 as interstock between the Flame seedless scion and the Freedom rootstock (FI/P/Fr) significantly improved the grafting success compared to grafts of the Flame seedless on the Freedom without the Paulsen 1103 interstock (FI/Fr). under water stress conditions, Paulsen 1103 interstock significantly improved the vegetative growth of Flame seedless grafts and their tolerance to water stress, which was associated with a significant increase in the leaf chemical content and the leaf relative water content. Furthermore, it increased the thickness of the leaf anatomical structures of the scion (midvein, lamina, palisade, xylem, and phloem). |
