Abstract The present study aims to analyze the symbolism of the forest in the novel The Evil of Taiga (2012) by the Mexican writer Cristina Rivera Garza. It is no coincidence that all the action sequences in the novel take place in the forest. For this reason, we will study the original shape of the forest, its symbolic function and its close relation with the rest of the novel’s components such as the plot, characters, and time. In general, Garza prefers Noir Fiction genre and applies frequently the characteristics of the postmodern narrative. The proses of analysis will be done by using the different theories of Post-structuralism, in order to reach the final vision of the author. |
