المستخلص Social networking sites are characterized by fast and simultaneous communications that can easily be used at all levels. The varied topics of the social media has attracted most people classes, particularly Iraqi families. The study examines the extent to which individuals of the Iraqi family are affected by the content of such sites. The purpose of this study is to specify usage types of the social media by Iraqi families on one hand, and to know the reasons why those families use such sites, and to monitor and analyze its impacts, including families’ activities, on the other hand. The researcher has adopted a questionnaire as a study technique which is included in a methodological survey of the media, and applied to a sample of 450 Iraqi family users accessing social networking sites. The technique of (in-depth interview) is also used by the researcher and applied to a sample of eight experts in different fields. The study hypothesis comprises a tight correlation of statistical significance between the average of respondents’ use of the social media and its impact on their with family members. The study has concluded with a set of results: 46.8% of respondents trust social media to a low degree. This reflects a negative impression on distorting facts owing to the repetition of false statements. The study has also concluded that the largest rate of people of the southern areas got acquainted with the traditions of people living in the middle and northern areas by means of uttering such words there. This percentage has reached 86% of persons who interacted with such false phrases without verifying their validity. Finally, the study recommends that a Research Centre should be established for monitoring and analyzing any content which violates ethical standards of Iraqi families. |
