Abstract The present study investigates the photocatalytic properties of modified titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO NPs) with noble metals (i.e. Ag, Pd, or Pt) 2 that followed subsequently with graphitizing by multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT). The as-prepared photocatalysts were fully characterized and subjected to environmental applications under visible light irradiation, in which (a) fixation of CO through the reaction with aromatic epoxides to produce the 2 corresponding cyclic carbonates under atmospheric pressure and ambient temperature, (b) photocatalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide (CO) in the presence of nitroaromatics to yield aromatic amines and formic acid (HCOOH) under optimized conditions. The Pd/TiO /CNT nano-photocatalyst was 2 demonstrated as having the highest photocatalytic efficiency in comparison with the other tested photocatalysts (Pd/TiO /CNT and Ag/TiO /CNT). 2 2 |
