Abstract The current study attempted to investigate the effect of strategy based on mind mapping on developing EFL first year preparatory stage pupils’ vocabulary in writing. The study is a quasi-experimental using two groups with pre and post test. The participants consisted of 50 pupils of first year preparatory school from El Salam preparatory school during the second semester of 2020-2021 academic year. They are divided into two groups: an experimental group (n=25) which was instructed through using the mind mapping strategy and control group (n=25) which received regular method. The instruments of the study included a checklist of content analysis of first preparatory grade’ vocabulary of New Hello textbook, a rubric of writing a paragraph, and a vocabulary writing test administered to the two groups before and after implementation of the suggested mind mapping strategy on the experimental group. The results revealed that the mind mapping strategy had a large effect on developing the pupils’ vocabulary aspects such as: nouns, verbs as well as adjectives, adverbs, and prepositions. |
