المستخلص

Chapter I: Included the study of the history of photography, the structure of the gelatin photograph (black and white), starting with the paper holder and ending with the surface gelatin layer.
Chapter II: Included the physicochemical factors that deteriorate black and white gelatin photographs (lighting, heat, humidity, air pollution, and the human factors), and the aspects of damage resulting from them and the subsequent change in the chemical composition and physical properties of the black and white gelatin photograph and the proposed global treatment methods.
Chapter III:Included the basics of display and storage of gelatin photographs in museums, as well as the considerations that must be taken into account in the exhibition halls (display method - .movement axes - lighting) and storage materials, as well as display showcases, the conditions that must be met in a good display, and the ideal museum presentation techniques for black and white photographs.
Chapter IV:Included the examinations and analyzes of the applied aspect, which is the photographic archive of the Coptic Museum to study the components of the black and white photographic layers and examine them through the use of the USB Digital Microscope examination. The analysis by (ATR-FTIR) in order to identify the chemical composition of the medium used and to identify the active groups in it. .
Chapter V:Included the experimental study of the effect of physicochemical factors that deteriorate black and white gelatin photographs to determine the changes of the chemical composition and physical properties of the gelatin photographs, and evaluate those results by various methods of examination and analysis to reach the optimal conditions for preserving and storing gelatin photographs.
Chapter VI:Included the practical application of restoring the gelatinous photographs found within the Coptic Museum’s illustrated archive, and the application of the best appropriate display and storage methods.
