Abstract

There are enormous research data indicating that in-hospital and short-term follow-up showed higher morbidity and all-cause mortality in elderly people suffering from coronary artery disease (CAD) indicating PCI in comparison to their non-elderly counterparts. Adverse events related to PCI, including mortality, MACEs, and major bleeding, occurs more probably in elderly people. Our study was conducted on 935 patients admitted to Cardio-vascular medicine department at Tanta university hospitals, for either elective PCI for chronic cases or urgent PCI for those suffering from high-risk ACS either STEMI, NSTEMI or unstable angina. Data collection was done for two years starting from December 2019. Patients were divided into 4 groups according to their age. group I was the Control group containing patients aged 65 years old. That group comprised 350 patients. group II (Case group) included 326 patients aged from 65 to 69 years old. group III (Case group) consisted of patients aged from 70 to 74 years old. That group included 160 patients. Lastly, group IV (Case group) included patients aged 75 years old. That group included 99 patients.
