Abstract The herniation of the intervertebral disks, also called ruptured or slipped disk, is the major cause of severe and chronic back pain. The cervical and lumbar regions are the most flexible areas of the spine and thus are most susceptible to injury and stress, with the lumbar area being most frequently affected by herniated disk disease (21). Herniated discs are becoming more common worldwide, with people in their third to fifth decades of life being the most affected. |
