Abstract Preoperative tamsulosin facilitates ureteroscopy for lower ureteric stones. It decreases the operative time, need of dilation and post operative indwelling ureteral stenting. It also increases the success rate but does not affect the complication rate significantly . Medical expulsive therapy was used for the ureteric stones with excellent outcomes regarding the stone free rate and side effects. MET is most useful in stone size larger than 5 mm in the distal ureter stones as stones smaller have high chances of spontaneous expulsion, the mechanism of action is due to relaxation of the ureteric peristalsis allowing the passage of fluids and urine(101). |
