Abstract To evaluate the effect of low intensity laser on bone density in bony cavities after removal of large cystic lesions of jaws. Sixteen male patients of middle age, suffering from a bony cystic lesion in mandible or maxilla, Each patients was operated on to enucleate the bony cystic lesions surgically under local or general anesthesia, eight of them were subjected to low intensity diode laser application after surgery to the area of enucleated lesion three times per week, day after day, starting from the second day of the surgery for two weeks, LLLT was applied for 1 minute at each side of the bony cavity using semiconductor diode laser (Quanta system, Italy) with a 980 nm wavelength and power output 100mw (group I). While the other eight patients were operated on to enucleate the bony cystic lesion without laser application (group II). Patients of both groups were followed up clinically and radio graphically |
