Abstract The Aim of the present study was to compare the efficacy of two pulp capping materials; Iodoform/dexamethasone acetate containing material (Pulpotec) and Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) in vital pulp therapy, as regard to their physical properties and for the biological evaluation, both materials were used in addition to the calcium hydroxide. Conclusions: The chemical composition and the pH of the pulp capping materials have a role on the pulp tissue and the dentine bridge formation. The phenol and formaldehyde are considered to be responsible of pulp hyalinization. Long term solubility of calcium containing materials is considered negligible in simulated dentinal fluid. Calcium containing materials allow the formation of globules of calcification when applied on pulp tissue |
