Abstract

Over the history, fire represents a significant threat to people and property, and it is highly ranked as a cause of accidental death in the world. Due to the strong need for an effective extinguishing system, many methods are used like the dry chemical systems, carbon dioxide, halogens, etc. However, the water-based suppression system has been by far the most common method among other techniques for fire protection, and one of the most effective and reliable fire fighting tools because of its economical merits, safety, and environmental issues. Fire suppression is mainly caused by direct cooling of the fire source, the displacement of oxidant, and the attenuation of thermal radiation. In order to achieve effective suppression, water must either reach the burning surface or enter the hot fire plume to extinguish the flame depending on the fuel properties
