Olmesartan medoxomil is antihypertensive drug that belongs to Angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It has very low bioavailability that arises from its poor water solubility and efflux by drug resistance pumps in the gastrointestinal tract. Thus the aim of this thesis was to increase its solubility and dissolution rates using surface solid dispersions and liquisolid techniques. Preparation of olmesartan medoxomil surface solid dispersion (SSD) using the co-evaporation technique was carried out, using Avicel pH102, Aerosil 200 , silicified microcrystalline cellulose, Lycatab®, Starlac®, sodium starch glycolate, and kyron T{u2010}314 at three different ratios 1:1, 1:5, 1:9 w/w. The prepared SSD systems were evaluated via saturated solubility and dissolution rate study. Results showed that all the prepared SSDs improved the drug solubility and dissolution rate compared to the pure drug. SSD18 and SSD20 possessed the highest saturation solubility and dissolution rate were formulated into orodispersible tablets (ODTs). F3 ODT and F6 ODT exhibited low DT and high percentage of drug dissoluted within 10 minutes. Also increasing the solubility via liquisolid technique using propylene glycol (PG) and polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG 400) as non volatile solvents; with drug concentrations 10, 20 and 30%, Avicel pH102 as carrier, and Aerosil 200 as the coating material. Different excipient ratios (20, 30, 40 and 50) were used
