Abstract
This thesis introduces three approaches to enhance the optimal coordination of microprocessor based directional overcurrent relays with an emphasis on the distribution systems with DG units. The proposed approaches prove their superiority in all the simulated case studies with a significant reduction in the total relays operating times and significant overall enhancement of the coordination process
